Care and Cleaning Guide for The Puppet Company Hand and Finger Puppets

Hand and finger puppets from The Puppet Company are made from high-quality plush materials and are designed for regular use at home, during storytelling, in schools, nurseries and therapeutic settings. Gentle cleaning suited to the particular model will help keep your puppet clean and looking its best for years to come.

For most hand and finger puppets, the manufacturer recommends gently cleaning the surface using warm water and mild soap. The puppet should then be allowed to air dry naturally. The Puppet Company baby hand puppets are an exception: according to their care labels, they may be machine washed at 30 °C.

Routine surface cleaning

For most hand and finger puppets, surface cleaning is usually sufficient to remove dust and light dirt. Use warm water together with a soft cloth or sponge and a mild soap.

Clean only the affected areas where possible. This gentle approach helps preserve the appearance and softness of the puppet while removing everyday dirt.

Machine washing baby hand puppets at 30 °C

The Puppet Company baby hand puppets may be machine washed at 30 °C in accordance with their sewn-in care labels. This makes them particularly suitable for regular use by babies and young children, where more thorough cleaning may be required more frequently.

Always check the care label attached to the individual baby hand puppet before washing. The instruction allowing machine washing at 30 °C applies only to the baby hand puppet range and should not automatically be applied to other hand or finger puppets from The Puppet Company.

Using mild soap

For surface cleaning, the manufacturer recommends mild soap together with warm water. Harsh or strongly degreasing cleaning products should be avoided to help preserve the quality and softness of the materials.

If necessary, any remaining soap residue can be removed afterwards with a clean damp cloth.

Allow to air dry naturally

After surface cleaning, allow the hand or finger puppet to dry naturally in a well-ventilated location. Ensure that it is completely dry before using or storing it again.

While drying, gently reshape the puppet where necessary so that it retains its original appearance.

For machine-washed baby hand puppets, also follow the drying instructions shown on the individual care label.
