Care and Cleaning Instructions for Living Puppets Hand Puppets
With the correct care, Living Puppets hand puppets can provide many years of enjoyment. According to the manufacturer, the puppets may be washed on a gentle cycle at a maximum temperature of 30 °C. The following instructions should be observed to protect the eyes, hair, fabric and shape of the puppet.
Removing Light Dirt and Stains
Minor stains and surface dirt can often be removed using a soft damp cloth, lukewarm water and a small amount of mild detergent.
Gently dab or wipe the affected area rather than rubbing it vigorously. Cleaning products should first be tested on an inconspicuous area.
Machine Washing
Living Puppets hand puppets may be machine washed on a gentle cycle at a maximum temperature of 30 °C.
Before washing, remove any detachable clothing and loose accessories. Parts that are permanently sewn to the puppet should remain attached.
Check the puppet for open seams, loose parts or other damage before washing. Puppets that are already damaged should not be placed in the washing machine.
Place the puppet in a sufficiently large laundry bag or a securely fastened light-coloured pillowcase. This helps to protect the eyes, hair, plastic parts and outer fabric from direct contact with the washing machine drum.
Recommended Washing Settings
- maximum temperature of 30 °C
- gentle or delicate wash cycle
- low spin speed
- mild detergent
Do not wash the puppet together with heavy or coarse items.
Do not use bleach, chlorine-based cleaners, aggressive stain removers or solvents.
Gentle Hand Washing
Gentle hand washing is particularly suitable for lightly soiled puppets, older puppets, figures with long hair or puppets made from more delicate materials.
Clean the puppet using lukewarm water and a small amount of mild detergent. Gently press the water through the material. Do not rub, wring or twist the puppet.
Rinse the puppet thoroughly with clean water afterwards.
Washing the Clothing Separately
Detachable clothing should be cleaned separately from the hand puppet. Always follow the care label attached to the individual garment.
If no clear care instructions are provided, gentle hand washing in lukewarm water with a mild detergent is recommended.
Drying the Hand Puppet
Living Puppets hand puppets must not be tumble dried.
After washing, gently press out excess water without wringing the puppet. Carefully reshape the head, mouth, hands, feet and other parts of the body.
Allow the puppet to air dry completely in a well-ventilated place. Turn and reposition the puppet occasionally while it is drying so that moisture can escape evenly.
Keep the puppet away from radiators, fan heaters, hairdryers, strong direct sunlight and other sources of intense heat. High temperatures may damage synthetic fibres, hair, plastic parts and the shape of the puppet.
Do not dress, use or store the puppet until it is completely dry, including on the inside.
Caring for Hair and Fur
Once the puppet is completely dry, gently loosen the fur and hair using your fingers.
Longer hair may be carefully arranged using a soft brush or a wide-toothed comb. Start at the ends and gradually work upwards.
Curly or heavily textured synthetic hair should preferably be shaped using the fingers only, as brushing may alter its original texture.
Additional Care Information
Living Puppets hand puppets must not be ironed, dry-cleaned or treated with hot steam.
These instructions apply to Living Puppets hand puppets. Care labels and any specific instructions provided for an individual product always take priority.
