Triceratops lived approximately 68 to 66 million years ago during the late Cretaceous in North America. With three facial horns and a bony neck frill, it was one of the best-protected dinosaurs. As a herbivore, it roamed the plains in herds. Its skull could reach up to 2.5 metres in length — one of the largest ever measured in a land animal.
Did you know that Triceratops skulls have been found bearing T-Rex bite marks? The two giants lived at the same time in the same place — palaeontologists believe they regularly encountered and fought one another.
