Stegosaurus Hand Puppet - Hansa Creation

Anyone creating animal stories in puppet theatre can easily include the stegosaurus hand puppet by Hansa Creation. The puppet suits small scenes, quiet storytelling moments and imaginative play. This makes it easy for new stories to grow.

Stegosaurus lived approximately 155 to 150 million years ago during the late Jurassic in North America. Its most prominent features are two rows of upright bony plates along its back and four tail spikes (thagomizer). As a herbivore, it fed on ferns and low-growing plants. Despite its nine-metre body length, its brain was only the size of a walnut.

Did you know that the term "thagomizer" for the Stegosaurus tail spikes originated from a cartoon? Illustrator Gary Larson coined the word in 1982 in his comic "The Far Side" — and palaeontology adopted it as an official scientific term.
